The OTTER 2015 is the CLASSIC edition and will be run EAST to WEST from Stormsriver Mouth to Nature’s Valley.

 

ENTRY FEES

The entry fees include:

    • Otter prologue
    • Shuttle from the Race Village ( Natures Valley, De Vasselot Campsite ) to the Start of the race ( Storms River Mouth Rest Camp )
    • The Race
    • Prize Giving Ceremony & Dinner
    • Otter Event Garment – Salomon Goodie Bag Technical Longsleeve  Meru Shirt
    • Otter Cotton Goodie Bag filled with goodies
    • Otter BUFF
    • GU gels & chomps
    • Halfway Munchie Station: GU, water, droewors, dates, boiled potatoes, muffins, Coach House Confectionary Nougat etc.
    • Lunch at the finish line
    • Otter Medal ( if you finish the race within the cut off time )
    • SANParks daily conservation fee

Entry fees:

OTTER Run: R 3900.00

OTTER Challenge: R 3600.00

 

Entry Procedure and Online Entry Schedule

A total of 220 entries are presented for the Otter Run and another 220 for the Challenge 2015.

Please note: 40 entries will be reserved for overseas elite participants, invited and sponsored athletes.

  • PHASE 1: Priority List *
    • On Monday, 20th of October 2014 at midday (12.00 hours), Priority List opens to anybody who would like to increase his/her chance to obtain an entry for the OTTER. (cost R 100 to event nominated charity).
  • PHASE 2: 2014 participants Entries
    • On Monday 3 November 2014, at midday (12.00 hours) online entries will open to 2014 Otter participants.
  • PHASE 3: Priority List* Entries
    • On Wednesday 5 November 2014, at midday (12.00 hours) online entries will be opened to athletes who registered on the “priority list” on a first come first serve basis.
    • A minimum number of 50 places will be made available, however the maximum number of entries available = 180 (per event) minus the total number of entries from PHASE 2
    • Note that athletes registered on the “priority list” * that are unsuccessful in entering during PHASE 2 & 3 will NOT be automatically placed on the Waiting list**. If they would like to have a chance to get an entry after close of entries they will have to register on the Waiting List **
  • PHASE 4: Public Entries (if available)
    • On Monday 10 November 2014 from midday (12.00 hours) online entries will be opened to the public on a first come first serve basis.
    • Maximum Entries = 180 (per event) minus the total number of entries from PHASES 2&3
    • Persons not successful in entering during  PHASE 4 should register on the “Waiting List”**
    • Athletes listed on the waiting list will be contacted and given the opportunity to enter should a place become available in the order of their original listing.

 

* PRIORITY LIST

The priority lists for the Otter is for persons wishing to increase their chances of obtaining an entry for these events by registering on these lists and thereby being afforded the opportunity to enter 14 days before online entries open to the public. Registration on the Priority List costs R100 which will be donated to the event nominated charities (Landmark Foundation, Nature’s Valley Trust and MCSA) . Registration on the priority list only affords persons registered on the list the opportunity to enter before online entries are opened to the public and is no guarantee of obtaining an entry. Priority List entries must be done online and are treated on a first come basis. Persons registered on the priority list that are not successful in obtaining an online entry will NOT be automatically transferred onto the Waiting list.


**WAITING LIST

Persons unsuccessful in obtaining an entry online during phase 1 & 2 may register on the waiting list. Registration on the Waiting List costs R100 which will be donated to the event nominated charities (Landmark Foundation, Nature’s Valley Trust and MCSA). Persons listed on the waiting list will be entered into a monthly draw for any places that may become available. Winners of the draw will be contacted and be given 48 hours to enter. Failure to enter within 48 hours will lead to removal from the list.

The 2015 OTTER event does not permit athletes to substitute an entry on their own. Entries will have to be returned to the organisers and refunded according to the refund policy below. Returned entries will only be made available to athletes on the waiting list.

The Waiting list will be closed on the 30th of September – no new entries will be accepted after this date.

 

REFUND POLICY

The event has a cancellation policy pertaining to refunds. As most of the expenses incurred in staging this event are committed to in advance refunds are only possible well in advance or when a replacement can be found.

  • Full payment is required on entry.
  • 85% of entry fee paid will be refunded if an entry is cancelled in writing on or before the 1 May 2015
  • 65% of entry fee paid will be refunded if an entry is cancelled in writing on or before the 15 August 2015
  • After the 1 September 2015 refunds will only apply if these entries can be substituted from the Waiting List. Please note that these possible refunds will only be made after completion of the event.
  • No refunds or new entries after the 1st of October 2015.
  • The above also applies to all accommodation bookings.
  • You are allowed to sell your accommodation booking directly to another athlete. Please inform Matty if you do sell your accommodation booking.
  • No refunds on Salomon Race Shirts. If you have cancelled your entry & do not want your shirt, we will do our best to try help find a buyer from the new waiting list entrants.
  • All Shirts to be collected from Race Registration, Challenge – 14th Oct 2015 & Run – 16th Oct 2015. If for some reason you cannot collect your shirt from Race Registration, please arrange collection from our offices: Magnetic South, TH30 Harbour House, Thesen Island, Knysna, 6570.
  • All shirts will be kept 1 month after the event.

 

CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT

In the event of inclement weather organisers may decide to change the course to safer alternative course or cancel the event entirely. Such a decision will only be made in the interest of participant safety. In the event of event cancellation no refunds will be possible.
